This April, we made our promise to the planet clearer and louder.
Being an eco-tourism destination demands a whole balancing act of offering leisure and relaxation, environmental conservation, and community empowerment. We acknowledge that tourism is known to negatively impact the establishment’s local ecosystems and communities through heavy resource depletion, pollution, and infrastructure overdevelopment. But despite all of that, we believe that there is a way to share with everyone the beauty of the planet without destroying it.
For Earth Month, we set out to inspire people to return to nature and reforge that innate connection with the natural world. Through rediscovering this unbreakable bond, we hope that more people will be emboldened to protect our environment even more fiercely.
Here is a full look at what we did this April — and what we still have coming this May for families, nature lovers, and anyone ready to step away from the screen and back into the wild.
How Mt. Camisong Celebrated Earth Month 2026

First Batch of Our Junior Forest Ranger Program
On April 2 to 4, we piloted our very own Junior Forest Rangers program where kids had a real outdoor experience. At our Kahilom Hiking Trails, our future forest guardians walked through forest paths, learned sustainable nature skills, and discovered what it means to be interconnected with something living and worth protecting.

Nature Easter Egg Hunt Returns for Year Two
Our Nature Easter Egg Hunt returned for its second year. On April 5 and 6, parents got to watch their kids figure out riddles, observe their surroundings, and explore a variety of objects in nature with their own hands. No screens, no gadgets. Just a good time with the whole family under the sun at Dalisay Active Sensory Play. As a reward to our little hunters, they got to bring home handcrafted chocolate eggs made from Cordillera heritage cacao by Kokomo Chocolate.

Meet Hermie and Eugene:
The Compost Club Launches
On Earth Weekend, we finally revealed our little secret. We introduced the Compost Club, our partners in making zero-waste kitchens here at Mt. Camisong. Meet Hermie (Hermetia illucens) the black soldier fly, and Eugene (Eudrilus eugeniae) the African nightcrawler. Together they reduce the food waste we generate in our dining areas and turn them into sustainable fertilizer.

You can visit our pop-up booth at Marahuyo View Deck to learn more about Hermie and Eugene, or even take them home with you as knitted plushies or stickers! Bring a container with you as well to scoop up some Windrow compost we are giving out for free.

Earth Weekend Film Screening:
Three Stories About the Planet
We also held a special film screening of three eco-conscious films to inform and educate our guests about pressing environmental issues. Our guests were engrossed watching Dahican (2023) by Boogs Rosales, The Plastic Detox (2026) by Josh Murphy and Louie Psihoyos, and Damayan (2025) by Celine Murillo at Kanlungan Hall, free of charge.
